Quiz 445

It was a little disapointing to find The Albert half empty last night especially after the previous two weeks when it was packed full. Just four teams took part last night and our eventual winners were The Alliance with a very impressive 95pts. That's their 120th win in all. I have recently found my old books with a list of winners going back to 2000 and when I go through it I will be able to give you a more comprehensive list of all-time winners. Second place went to The Book Ends with 90pts, CJD were third on 87pts and the 7 Ts were fourth with 82pts.

For next week: I had an email last week from Margaret of The Alliance suggesting a short break of a few seconds between songs on the music tape so, from next week I shall try and do that when I compile the next one probably on Sunday (just hope I can remember). Thanks for the input Margaret. Anyone else who has any interesting suggestions can email me at: quizard_97@yahoo.co.uk Next week's quiz is already half completed including the guest round which is Celebrity Wordmatch. The reason for the head start is that I only have five days to get it finished this week because I'm going to a wedding on Wednesday in Coventry of a couple I met on the Internet. I shall be staying in a hotel overnight and probably won't be back until late afternoon Thursday.

Leprechaun's Pot 'O' Gold

As there was only a few people in last night, Carole only collected £13. The question was: "What was the date of the Battle of Naseby?" The answer to which is June 14th 1645. Gareth of The Alliance was just two days out with his guess of June 16th 1645. It's just a shame that such a good guess only netted him £6.50. The other £6.50 rolls over to next week making a starting pot of £22.50.

Joke of the Day (Thanks Mako)

An 8-year-old girl went to her dad, who was working in the yard. She asked him, "Daddy, what is sex?" The father was surprised that she would ask such a question, but decides that if she is old enough to ask the question, then she is old enough to get a straight answer. He proceeded to tell her all about the "birds and the bees." When he finished explaining, the little girl was looking at him with her mouth hanging open. The father asked her, "Why did you ask this question?" The little girl replied, "Mom told me to tell you that dinner would be ready in just a couple of secs."
