Quiz 451

I wasn't expecting many people last night, I suppose I should be thankful that we managed five teams. Usually, after the August Bank Holiday the quiz tends to pick upthough I was told last night that Gareth and Pete from the Alliance will be away and The Flying Otters will also be absent as it is Leah's birthday. Happy birthday Leah and well done Dave for raising over £700 for charity last weekend. Last night's winners were The Alliance who now have won my quizzes more than any other team since I started compiling them in August 1997. There winning score was 93pts which was nine points ahead of a very tightly packed chasing group. Anger Management and Drunks aloud were joint second with 84pts each, Fourth place went to The Props one point back on 83 and Newly bald aka The Flying Otters were fifth albeit with a very credible score of 82pts. Leprechaun's Pot 'O' Gold

With Carole being away on Holiday, Margaret from The Alliance stepped into the breach and collected the monies last night, thank you Margaret. As it was a quiet night only £18 went into the pot. The question was: In metres and centimetres what was USA's Stephanie Brown Trafton's gold medal winning throw in the women's discus final. The correct answer is 64.74 metres. There were several very good answers For the third time, Kate, the boss was closest and took the £9. Next week as it is the end of the month the whole pot will be won and we start with £51.50. So, the closest guess should be leaving with £70 - £80.
